Part I – Getting started

Where is Facebook Ads Manager?

If you want quick access to Facebook’s Ads Manager, saving the straight link to the page is your best bet. When you click this link, you’ll be sent straight to your Facebook Ads Manager. If you have more than one advertising account under your management, use the account selector to switch between them. To access Ads Manager straight from your company Page, click the “Ad Centre” dropdown arrow on any Facebook Page, and then select “All Ads” from the submenu that appears. If you scroll to the very bottom of that page, you’ll see a link labelled “Ads Manager.”

How to set up your Ads Manager account

A Facebook user’s unique ad account ID is generated automatically upon registration. If you open Ads Manager and check the top left corner, you’ll find this ID displayed there. You must have a valid payment method and a Facebook account to access the Facebook Ads Manager. a Facebook Page, or serve in one of these roles on someone else’s: administrator, editor, or advertiser. If your company does not already have a Facebook page, Facebook will assign an ad account to the one you create. If you want to promote a Page that wasn’t founded by you, you’ll need to contact the Page’s administrator and request an appropriate role, such as administrator, editor, or advertiser. You will need a Business Manager account if you already have a Page Ads account but would like to start a new one. A new advertising account can be opened after signing up for Business Manager.

How to get your team set up on your Facebook Ads account

Access to your Facebook Ads account, along with the proper advertising roles, must be granted to your team members before they can be used for ad management and creation.

  • Your ads’ results are the only ones an “Analyst” can see. The ideal candidate for this position will simply need access to your Facebook ad data in order to generate reports.
  • Your ad account gives an “Advertiser” access to see, change, and make ads using the payment method on file. This position is ideal for a freelance marketer or a partner agency that wants to make advertising but doesn’t have access to the financial specifics.
  • Above and beyond what an “Analyst” or “Advertiser” can do, an “Admin” can modify payment details and manage roles. A person in this position will be responsible for managing all aspects of the advertising account, including access, billing, payments, and budget constraints.

To add someone to your ad account:

  • Select “Settings” in the Ads Manager menu.
  • Choose Add People under Ad Account Roles.
  • Enter the name or email address of the person you wish to grant access to. Only Facebook users with personal profiles can be granted access to an advertising account.
  • Select the appropriate option from the drop-down menu, and then click Confirm.
  • It’s important to remember that ad account positions are distinct from Page roles, Facebook Business Manager roles, and other Facebook roles. You may not have access to the company’s ad account even if you are the Facebook Page or Business Manager administrator.

Navigating the Facebook Ads Manager dashboard

The campaign dashboard is the first thing you’ll see when you log into Facebook Ads Manager. There’s a lot to take in, but we’ll make sure you understand everything.

Your campaigns

The main section displays all of your current campaigns. Campaigns, Ad Sets, and Ads are the three components that make up your Facebook advertising campaigns and are displayed in tabs across the top. Multiple ad sets can be part of the same advertising campaign, and each ad set can feature different advertisements.

In a campaign, you get to pick the end goal. When you have decided on a medium, audience, and spending limit, you can begin creating ad sets.

A campaign can have many ad sets if more than one audience or placement type needs to be targeted. And the advertisement is the place to choose the pictures and the words. Multiple advertisements can be filed under a single ad set if you’re conducting A/B testing to see which aspects of your ad’s design perform best.

Facebook Ads Manager: Ad Creation

Although the dashboard looks complicated, making ads is actually quite easy. Click the large green “Create” button to begin making your advertisement.

After selecting “Create New Ad,” you may select from “Brand Awareness,” “Consideration,” and “Conversions” to determine your campaign’s focus. After deciding who you want to reach with your ads and where they will appear, you’ll need to establish other aspects of your campaign, such as its budget, format, creative, and more. Now that you know how to set up your ads via Facebook Ads Manager, the next step is to analyse the data your ads provide for you, which is exactly what we will do in Part II of this article.
